Brand New - No connectivity <resolved beware of usb adapter cables> >
This is a hardware issue? Just received my board. Followed all instructions. I have a heart beat. Both my PCs show “media disconnected” on Ethernet port. Tried different cat5e cable. No lights come on on the ports. Configuring the static up makes no difference because the media is disconnected. Tried reseating the seeed. I think i have a hardware issue. The symptoms are at the hardware layer, not the transport layer.

Cheers,

Confidence is the feeling you have before you fully understand the situation.
I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are where they should be.

Why does it need a new BBG? What happened?Aussieatlarge wrote: ↑Fri May 21, 2021 5:27 pm Need a new bbg. Will follow “little green brick” instructions.
Others can learn from the issue.

Re: Brand New - No connectivity
This is embarrassing but I will share.
My laptop had no com port so I looked through my box of USB stuff and found what I thought was a USB to RJ45 converter. It turned out that what I had found was one side of a USB extender which allowed one to extend a USB cable with the use of an ethernet cable (the other end would have been the female USB to RJ45 connector) . So when I plugged usb into ethernet into BBG, I basically sent 5Volts straight from my USB port into the poor ethernet card on the BBG. That was all she wrote.

It is what it is. We lean from expensive mistakes!
Dedicated physical Ethernet port on the PC for Acorn and the shielded cable are a must.
Hope things are going better for you!

Laptop:. Strike 1. Don't use themMy laptop had no comm port
No comm port:. Strike 2. Should have been an obvious disqualifier.
Thinking there is a low budget work around for inadequate hardware: Strike 3. You are fortunate that's all you blew up
