Resetting G28 with one click???

Post by vw_chuck »

VCP button for resetting the G28 position.
Is there a way to make a simple button on the VCP to reset my G28 position. It is a real pain to have to go through multiple tabs to get to it and type in locations and save. Massive time waste.
Is there a way to make this into a one click process?
Thanks

What does that mean? I looked through the VCP manual and the lathe manual and they are useless. Can you elaborate? How does one make a macro to do this?

You ever click on the M55, 56, 57 or 58 button on VCP?:
VCP Macro Button.JPG
You'll get a message, read it.
Go in and edit that Macro with a text editor. Delete everything in it.
Then simply put G28 in it.
Save it

Now press the VCP button your programmed.

Give it a try

So Marty this will reset the G28 parameters to the current machine location? or will it move to the G28 location?

No it will just move it to the G28 location.
What are you trying to accomplish?

For what purpose? Different tool change position?
I personally don't know whether or not that is possible.

Seriously? This can't be that hard can it?
Yes on a lathe you have to reset the G28 position pretty much whenever your Z axis zero changes and god forbid you accidentally put your G28 at a negative position to the Z zero.........Then your tool goes through your part to get to G28 . Not sure why this button wouldn't be part of the lathe software already.
Well this sucks.

Edited:

Correction, X and Z move at the same time during a tool change.
Do you have accurate home switches on your lathe?
When you start up, your X moves first (away from the spindle centerline) and then your Z moves second (away from the headstock) to their home positions?

Can you post a fresh report from your lathe.
You should never have to reset the G28 unless you want a different tool change position than that of Machine home.

Marty
