After having a number of unusual problems with Acorn, per the suggestions here I have reinstalled CNC12 and started over. Using only the WIZARD to make configurations, BEFORE adding the physical buttons, I tested Cycle start and Feedhold on the VCP and they work as expected. Then, using the wizard, I added the physical buttons (CycleStart2 and FeedHold2) using the wizard.
The switches are both wired NC.
I then looked at the inputs using ALT-I. Both inputs are GREEN in their normal stated, I press the buttons and their respective input turns RED as it should be according to my understanding.
I then tested things again, and here is what I have...
VCP Cycle Start does nothing
Physical Cycle Start button runs command as expected
VCP Cycle Start does NOT stop the motion (using example command, G01 X10.0 F40.0)
Physical Feed Hold button does NOT stop the motion (using example command, G01 X10.0 F40.0)
I found this statement here on the forum from CNCKeith...
"when you add secondary cycle start or feed hold buttons using cyclestart2 and feedhold2 the physical buttons will use the same logic as the virtual cycle start and feed hold so they need to be the same type (NC or NO etc) (or you can edit the PLC program to do whatever you want)"
Assuming that is my problem, I do not know how to determine what "logic" the VCP button operate in so I am not sure what to do.
What should I do to get the Feed Hold button working?
Is it normal that if I use physical buttons, the VCP buttons no longer should work?
Attached is the Report file.
Thanks in advance !
Chris D

You'll need to invert those "physical" button inputs. Here's some more info for your reading pleasure.....

Yes, that is what I was going to suggest try and invert the inputShawnM wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 8:42 am You'll need to invert those "physical" button inputs. Here's some more info for your reading pleasure.....

Go in to the Wizard, click on the DOT next to the input description, it will change the state from green (NC) to Red (NO)
Shawn pointed you to the documentation.
You are better to continue posting in your original thread. We can read back to refresh ourselves on the issue. When you start over, we have to start over, many of us old guys don't have that great a memory....especially when we are trying to help others....just a tip.

Re: Feed Hold NOT working - just added FeedHold2 physical button/input
Hi guys,
thanks for helping out. I am a bit confused though. Shawn is suggesting I invert the state in the plc diagnostic screen and you are suggesting I make the change in the Wizard - will both do the same thing? It appears if I do this through the PLC Diagnostic Screen it will be a temporary change, is that correct?
Thanks again,
Chris

use the wizard the plc diag screen seems to trip new users up.

Re: Feed Hold NOT working - just added FeedHold2 physical button/input
Thank you very much guys!
I now have Cycle Start(VCP / Physical), Feed Hold (VCP / Physical) working on the machine. Moving forward with the addition of more M-Codes, Outputs, and Macros. If anything new comes up, I will start a new thread.

Did inverting the input solve the problem?

Marty,
Yes, inverted both inputs using Wizard and that fixed it.
THANK YOU GUYS!
