Need advice ? Just received a free plasma table...all motors and and Anaheim automation boards all attached . Ordered a controller from acorn. Will I need a special cncpc and a separate computer? Or can I use a high end computer and download acorn software and get this thing up and rolling ?

Minimum specs are on the page where their computer is sold. You will need to verify the single thread performance of your CPU to make sure it meets minimum spec.. You need windows 10 properly set up for CNC.

The computer you need is not a special one just has to meet minimum specs.

The information you want is here

I highly recommend a separate, stand alone pc just for the cnc machine. You can buy pc's that meet the minimum specs on eBay and your local Craig's List. I get Dell SFF pc's running Win10 that exceed the minimum specs all day long for $110-$140 dollars.

Post pictures of the machine, control cabinet, drives and please post information on the drives.

You need a PC that meets the minimum system requirements:

Not much, I buy small form factor PC's. Intel Nuc, Lenovo Tiny series etc. Fit with at least a 120GB SSD, Windows 10 and 4GB of memory. Needs to have an ethernet port (Not USB to Ethernet Adapter)

What torch height control are you going to use? Centroid is developing its own THC for Acorn...no announcement time yet. Search the forum for Plasma

I just got an used plasma power unit (Hypertherm 45XP) recently and doing my own table is kinda becoming interesting
for me now... I have this idea of building one based on OpenBuilds mechanics (aluminum extrusion), what do you think ?

What software is best for nesting and creating post-processor ?
According to what I've know Vectric/Vcarve is more router oriented than plasma cutting...

Any recommandations with Torch Height Control with Acorn ?

Had this wild idea of adding a 4th axis for doing tubing, would it be possible ?

Centroid is developing its on THC.
So you are a little early to the party so to speak.....
If you can live without it for awhile and save the money I would consider that.
You would want a THC that outputs step and direction like the Proma Electronika

for plasma your best bet for cam is sheet cam . the acorn has no plasma screen . so if you want thc you need a sd unit neuron simplicity . robot 3t has a standalone sd unit . proma one is not that good neuron is tops it more then a thc . i have an acorn getting ready to try on my new build i new to acorn but not plasma hypertherm plasma cutter is tops
