DXF Requirements??

I am trying to understand the requirements to successfully import DXF Files. I've seen the document intercon_dxf-in.pdf is there anything that specifically states the requirements?
I am using Creo to create DXF files - it has a few options. So far I have used a 2D a drawing with a single view no text no border and have tried switch line styles and version to export.
So far I get the same error. When I import I get an error>>501 Invalid character. The first line was 999 where it stopped, the second two 9s are highlighted...I tried editing them out and just to a single 9 but I'm shooting in the dark

This helps...Thanks Keith for the personal video 9-) I did not import the the DXF as you did - I tried to open it. I spent about four hours building the part in Intercon - as a way to see how it works - you saved me 3 hours and 59 minutes. I will go in and drill holes etc. Is it possible to get back to the screen after importing the DXF?

Back to what screen?

You might take the time to read the chapter on Intercon in the Operator's manual: https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... -v4.14.pdf

There is a chapter on importing DXF

The screen after import that includes contour etc. For example if you wanted to change to origin position - I guess you would have to delete all the intercon lines and start over.
I had downloaded that manual but since it didn't have ACORN in the name I didn't go through all of it. I did look to see what G Code where supported. My original problem started when I tried to LOAD FILE to open a DXF. Thanks to Keith I now know that the file was good and it is opened via the OTHER option. Now I see the ENGRAVING option and I had been trying to see how that operation can be started. However I don't see anything about the requirements for creating DXF files. I will now go back and re-import the variety of files I created to see if some work better than others. I also created a DXF of the parts file (3D) along with a variety of settings in the 2D drawing file.

Reading the manual showed me that the POSITION option in the TOOL menu defines where he tool change happens...reading is good and required. Now I'll go play with the program and see if that fixes other issues I noticed. I'm assuming that because I'm just bench testing and don't have REAL OFFSET numbers info in the table (All heights are at zero) I may cause other issues. I notice that on my travel to initiate CUTTER COMP the tool travels below the prescribed Z definition.
Off to play...
Thanks Marty!!

The Operators manuals pertain the the CNC12 software with few exceptions. Not the motion controller.

Intercon will not understand anything 3D. It is 2D only for DXF import.
