Thanks for that thread. I did not see that one before while searching. Looks like it has all the info I need for the turret.

I saw a video from you where you set it to 8000. Do I need to connect my PC to the Dyn4 and see its settings first? And what's the best way to figure out the turns ratio? I think that when I installed the 4.64 version, the wizard had set 2000 steps/rev as a default for Dyn4.
Yes, I assume you were given the USB to DYN4 Communications Cable
Using DMMDRV which can be downloaded here: http://www.dmm-tech.com/Downloads.html

With the drives powered up, take screen shots of the DYN4 Settings for EACH drive and label them Z and X

Also, Z is ALWAYS Axis 1 and X is always Axis 2 in CNC12. Do not change that.
When you start CNC12 4.64 LOAD DMM DYN2/DYN4 drives in the Wizard then start building your pages starting from Top to Bottom on the left side of the Wizard.

Use screen shots as a guide. You will have to fix the Overall Turns ratio and steps per motor rev. My notes say the Overall turns ration for an Emcoturn 120 should be 10.16 as a starting point.

A weekend's effort getting thing cleaned up and updated will pay off for you.

I guess there were weirdnesses with that beta version. In your post, you list RotateToolTurret on output2. On my photo of the wizard page, you can see that output 2 was set to "mist", which of course makes no sense as there's no mist system in this lathe. So that's another spot where the setting shown in the wizard differs from the report.

The output definitions I posted came from YOUR Report from version 4.13 Its in the .SRC file
That's how they are assigned.

Don't screw yourself up. Go back to 4.13 and delete everything else.
When you are ready, RENAME CNCT to CNCT - 4.13
THEN
FRESH install of 4.64. Follow the instructions IN the ATC Universal Lathe document.

Just go back to square one. I'll say it ONE MORE TIME, DO NOT RESTORE A 4.13 REPORT over the TOP of 4.64

Contact DMM and order one. You should have it because you have their drives. I wouldn't do anymore until I had it. You need it.
Or ask the guy you bought the lathe from....

Well I'm not very good at waiting so I made one. I had a little USB to serial breakout board left from a previous project and it takes only 4 pins.

Here's the output from reading Z axis driver. I haven't connected it to the X driver yet. I'm assuming it will be the same but I can check later.

I have always set the GEAR and LINE number both to 2000 in DMMDRV.
Then I sent the steps/rev to 8000
Then you set the Overall turns ratio to 10.16

Do get a screen shot of the other drive as well......

Start from there.

Alright, I made good progress but not there yet.

I'm on 4.64 and the turret is turning. I used the files from the 4.6 ATC file and instructions for the gray code 1 output. The inputs were set in the wizard for all 4 bits. All on NO setting.

I also set the machine params with the proper bit values as in the old report.

There's still a problem: when I use the MDI to request a position, like T0202, it only locks on the even numbers (the inside too positions). It will work on tool 2, 4, 6, 8 (even though it positions itself on the opposite number, like 2 instead of 6, 4 instead of 8). If I request one of the odd numbers, it will just spin for 10s and not lock.

When I click on turret index, it will do the same and just spin and time out. I watch the numbers count at the top of the DRO, and it only shows the even numbers, but if I look at the input lights after pressing alt-i, then I can see them all change, even or odd.

As for the 851 parameter, I tried the original value from the old report, which was 300, I tried 500, I also tried 0.5, 0.3, 0.1, 0.03, 0.01 like in the Turn 120 thread, but it's not better. With the current settings, it will lock on the even tool numbers and not fail, but will time out on the odd numbers.

I'll upload a current report in a bit.
