Heidenhain ROD 426 encoder compatibility (Resolved)

Post by LenelyWolf »

Can anyone tell me if this encoder will be compatible with acorn board or will I need any additional hardwares?

It should work just fine.

Key items are that it operates on 5VDC and produces a quadrature square wave.

When Heidenhain says an output is "TTL" and shows a square wave, it is always a differential signal, as required by Centroid.

Thanks... that is a good news for me 🙂

Thank you... i think I will have to create another question about wiring because wiring in heidenain documentation is not very clear to me. I will try to figure it out on my own but if I fail I will have to come back

You need the encoder color code chart which tells you which color wire is which function so you can wire the DB9 connector

I’ve got it but like I said it is unclear to me.. acorn pin letters are different to heidenhain color code plus I’ve got 12 wires coming out of the encoder and only 9 pins on db9. obviously I’m not an electrician🤷‍♂️

There is a picture of of the cable with all cable colors. Thanks for this info but still not unclear. Should I connect together brown/green and blue together for +5v white/green and white together to gnd? If so what about those two extra violet and yellow wire?
