Spindle direction

Post by LenelyWolf »

Sorry for silly question. Can anybody point me on some video or documentation on how to control spindle direction with acorn? I thought the spindle direction is control by reversing polarity on 10v analog output but obviously that isn’t the case.
Thanks in advance

M3 command closes the relay that tells the drive to rotate forward. M4 closes the relay that tells the drive to rotate in reverse. M5 is stop. (both relays open) This is a basic two relay setup, there are other ways to go forward or reverse but all done by a VFD or Servo.

All spindle motion is controlled by a drive or a servo that accepts forward and reverse commands.

The 0-10 Volt only sends the speed %

Thanks ... So is that done by one (or two) of the 8x configurable outputs on acorn board by setting one of the output to switch on on command m3 and switch off on m4 or other way around?

You should have those set as defaults but yes, you can configure them manually if needed.

Not a silly question...
But you do not give any information on the machine, the spindle drive, spindle motor. Hard to give good information without "SEEING" the big picture
You mention "reversing polarity"

With more information, we can give you better suggestions.
