This is similar to what happened with the touch screens. The touchscreens multi gesture drivers interpreted a (very slight) finger roll as a "lock on" press and it takes another press to release it.

My guess is that you are making an unintentional lateral motion with the mouse that is being interpreted as "lock on". This could be a result of the mouse moving, or simply something in the mouse itself. In any case, it seems to be unique to your setup, as there are over 4000 of these units out there and other than the few that reported this on a touchscreen, you are the only one, so far, that is reporting it with a mouse.

I tried to make this happen on my ATC 40 running Mill software, and on my lathe running lathe version (older) and could not make it happen.

I noticed you have Z axis Direction inverted in the Advanced Axis configuration menu of the Wizard. why?

everything about this machine works perfect except this and "robtown" a few posts back said he has had a similar problem so he stopped using the VCP and now only uses his pendent.

EDIT
the custom plc is the tool changer

acorn set that when it seen my tool changer files on the last upgrade so the wizard will not overwrite the settings
and this problem has been here since day one before I had a tool changer

z axis is inverted because the z- move was away from the chuck. it was either reverse in settings or wire the motor backwards.
The direction of motor rotation depends on what end of the ballscrew your rotating from, tailstock end mounted or chuck end mounted.I'm mounted at the chuck end requiring a reverse in settings.

Ok.. that is not what the Advanced Drive setting menu does. the Advanced Drive setting menu inverts the signal itself and is NOT used to change the direction of the axis. this is most likely the issue. Uncheck the Z axis direction signal inversion in the Advanced tab. then go to machine configuration menu and flip the axis direction in that menu. press write settings to cnc control and follow the instructions.

It probably has nothing to do with the setting in advance drive setting because X does the same thing and it is not inverted in advanced settings.
