I'll be back to testing this afternoon.
I know windows update didn't cause the issue. It did it from the beginning before the PC was ever put on the internet.
Windows update caused a loss of administrator privileges. I have to go through and make sure the setup for Acorn has not changed since these last updates.
I will return to post whether it is fixed or not.

It may be your monitor. That's why we suggested you disconnect the USB cable from it.

Disconnecting the monitor USB cable and the ShuttleXpress USB cables did not resolve the problem even after a reboot.
repeated clicking of the jog button would make it stay on some times.
I looked up how to remove touch screen driver and was directed to:

Press the Windows logo key + X.
Select Device Manager from the list.
Click the little arrow next to Human Interface Devices to expand the list.
Click the touch screen driver,
Right-click, and select Disable from the list.
Click Yes on the dialog box that asks if you are sure you want to disable the touch screen driver

There were 2 human interface drivers running and since the mouse and keyboard drivers are in a different location I disabled both.
On reboot windows installed the drivers even though the devices were disconnected. If this fixes the problem the driver is the cause and not the actual touch screen itself.
So far I have not been able to get it to act up.
I clicked until my finder hurts ...
I will test more later

I see that planar monitor uses the windows tablet settings and driver to control it. Planar has no driver for my touchscreen. PCT2235
I went into "tablet settings" and clicked on "never use this device as a tablet" also

You mark this resolved? Did you fix it? If so, please state what you did to bring closure to this...

I have had to stop working on this due to a few very large jobs.
As of my last tests I had no problem but I do not feel i have tested enough to declare it fixed.
I will try to conclude testing as soon as I can.

Let's not mark it resolved.
Make sure you have a quality mouse, updated drivers, tried a different mouse. Mechanical buttons on a mouse can "bounce" causing what would seem to be multiple presses.

When you do report back, please start your own thread. ALSO PLEASE post a fresh report.
