I have had an frequent problem when I repeatedly press an arrow button in the VCP with the left mouse button to get in range to switch to increment mode. The arrow button stays on and the axis continues to move after I release the mouse button (even with a different mouse) causing a collision if I am not fast enough on the reset button.
This has happened often in all 3 versions of CNC12 I have installed since I purchased Acorn. I'm now on v4.64
I thought my shuttle express driver might have been the problem so I uninstalled it. No change.
Is it possible I'm double clicking it (causing a run), by repeated clicking, like you would left double click to start a program on the desktop?

I have changed the mouse double click speed to the fastest setting, so fast I cannot open a program by double clicking now (I'm not fast enough) to test and see tomorrow if I can still repeat the problem.

This has even happened once on it's own while the machine was sitting idle, I was entering tools into the tool table and paused for a few minutes to do something and when I returned the Z axis had run the tool changer into the chuck breaking the tool and causing a drive fault.
I tried to search to see if this has happened before
I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue.

This is on my 11x26 lathe with a 8 position turret.
Today I ran tests all day without any issue.
I had changed my keyboard and my mouse. removed the protective cover from my touchscreen in case that was the issue.
nothing had changed all day the pc was still running in the same startup of acorn.
I put a new tool in the turret and moved into position to measure it's z offset. I clicked the left arrow to move closer before switching to increment
and the arrow stuck on and rammed the tool into the work again.
I hit the escape key on the keyboard to stop it.
Then I noticed on my windows taskbar there were now two virtual control panels running at the same time? One covering the other.

has anyone had this issue?

Try using the virtual keyboard and not the touchscreen. I'm guessing this is a touchscreen issue. Do you have another monitor you can try?

I will try a different monitor but...
I am not using the touch screen to make the move. The only thing I'm touching is the mouse ( A different mouse and keyboard now) I stated in my first post that I have the pointer on the left arrow(Z-) in the VCP and I'm clicking the left mouse button every time this happens.
When I release the button the axis just keeps moving on it's own.
And as I said, I noticed after it just happened this time, Cnc12 had 2 VCP control panels open. one covering the other. both showing on the task bar.

Sorry I missed that about the mouse click. I did notice your CPU is just barely over the minimum single thread requirements. I can't help but think it's a computer issue that causing this, but I don't know what to suggest. Sorry.

I have to figure this out, every time I get all 8 tools in the turret calibrated the turret gets smashed into the chuck and I have to recheck everything.
Today's crash was while re-calibrating yesterdays crash and so tomorrow I start again.
This time with a different monitor.

I ordered this computer because I thought it more than met the lathe requirements.
I read lathe needed a minimum of 1000 Single Thread Performance
am I reading something wrong?
I thought this says 1,577 Single Thread Performance
would you suggest I get something else?

You are right. I kept getting confused as you kept mentioning "tool changer" but I see you did say lathe. 1000 is the recommended single thread for lathe and you are well past that.

Well that's a relief
now to see if the monitor is the cause
any idea how there was 2 VCP's open?
