I think I would do a fresh install of 4.64 and install the latest Lathe Universal PLC and installing the parameters by hand first. It's your machine, it's up to you how to proceed.

Marty
When I have time I'm going to rename the cnct directory to save my setting that work perfect now, do a v4.64 install with no extras except the motor settings using the wizard and see if the issue is still there. If it is I'll try a different PC.
Right now I need this machine and I'm going to test Shuttlexpress and touchscreen if one of them doesn't cause the issue I can run my jobs.
I am going to try your suggestions and follow up on this and post my findings.
After the initial start up and setting Z and X part position for tool one I never have to nudge into a tool position again If i don't power down.

Ok
I first installed the touchscreen and tested it pressing the z- button on the screen in slow jog repeatedly for about 5 minutes, I did not have a problem but I will have to test it more to be certain. ( I do think I made it stick once but I had hit the button again before realizing it had not stopped and that caused it to stop)
I then installed Shuttlexpress (I believe is supposed to a keyboard emulator not a mouse emulator ) and tested it
when at slow jog speed and slowly moving z axis by bumping the controls outer ring not just holding it on ,when I let go of the outer ring some times it acts the same as the mouse and continues to move without input from me. It is doing the exact same thing as the mouse and will get hung up and not stop moving.
The up side to using the Shuttlexpress is the jog speed is infinite variable ( not just a slow or fast setting) and if i move very slow into position without bumping off and on to nudge. then switch to incremental to step in closer, I can calibrate without crashing.
the key here is to not be repeatedly clicking the same button no matter if it is the mouse touchscreen or the Shuttlexpress. I just have to move into position very slow and go to increment to keep from crashing.
I have a workaround for now.
Steve

this file is after touchscreen and Shuttlexpress were reinstalled and the way it is now.

I am now testing against a mag base instead of a part in the chuck to make sure I have a fool proof method and not going to crash the tools into the chuck.
It takes a long time to re calibrate 8 tool offsets and heights in the turret after a crash.
If I remember to only shut off cnc12 at the tool check position(home) then I can restart the next day without setting x position for the part. just any new z zero position if a different job.

Re: Jog button in VCP sticks on

Post by jumps4 »

I don't know what the re sends mean
is that a Ethernet communication problem?
about the time this was happening I did have an issue with max spindle rpm low and touchscreen not working in cnc12
the spindle max speed was a vfd adjustment max hz. I was adjusting dc braking last week and forgot to speed it back up after testing. fixed
when I reconnected the touchscreen usb cable it worked everywhere but cnc12 VCP
A reboot of the computer and acorn fixed everything.

Yes resend error is a communication error between the CNC PC and the acorn board.

what is the name of the log file to check to see if I am still have a communication problem
I purchased a cat8 5 ft gold plated cable
The cable that came with acorn was really long and I had it coiled up on the side of the machine.
I'd like to check the log to see if this helped
