I recently came into possession of a large qty of hsk63a tool holders from a auction at work. In the lot was a barely used Renishaw OMP60 probe. It may be a strech but is there any way to connect it to centroid. I know it needs an OMM and a possible MI 12 unit but is there any way to connect it to acorn? I know i could sell it and buy a centroid probe but im stubborn 8-)

Do your research find the documentation, and figure out what machine interface is NEEDED to communicate with the probe.
All Acorn cares about is an probe triggered input and probe detect input.

This probe is designed the transmit by infrared to a dedicated receiver, so unless you plan to do some very serious surgery to it, you'd be better off selling it and getting something more suitable. It must be worth a bit if it's in good nick.

I have an MP1s probe on my machine (must be 20+ year old technology) - it had a wireless (inductive coupled) connection which I was able to remove and replace with a simple 5 pin DIN (old audio) cable that plugged straight in. Cost me about $200 on ebay, which was a bargain really and is much more accurate than my machine could ever be.
