Acorn Lost VCP Panel

Post by Marik »

Hi Folks,

Here is Hyundai/Mazak 8G gang tool lathe with Acorn 12, DMM Dyn4 1.0kW motors, Siemens 360V 15hp spindle motor, and DuraPulse GS4 20hp VFD.

Today I turned on the machine and there is no VCP. It worked fine for awhile before. The monitor is 16:9, set for 1920x1080 resolution. The VCP is not in a task bar. It shows an error:

There is an error in XML document (0, 0). Not all Options is in the options.xml

Is it a software fault?

Thanks, M

Another thing I paid attention, when I wanted to save Wizard changes it shows fatal error.

Are those two connected? Should I reinstall Acorn? How to save all the settings and tool setups?

Thanks, M

Sounds like you are having some disk problems. Run Windows CHKDSK and see if it finds anything. Reinstalling CNC12 should restore the corrupted files, but if your disk is failing, the problems might reoccur.
Cheers,

I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are where they should be.

Thanks! It is brand new Asus with SSD. Running the chkdsk shows no errors. What else could cause it?

How to reinstall without loosing tool and machine setups? Also, I have a few programs written, so don’t want to lose them, either.

Thanks, M

Are you running an antivirus program? That might prevent CNC12 from opening the files. A recent report should have everything you need for a restore.

No antivirus. Since last report had lots of changes, which I need. Is there a procedure how to uninstall and reinstall the program and keep all the settings.

Just copy the entire cncm folder on your PC to a thumb drive. That's everything you need for a complete backup. Anytime you make changes create a report and copy it to a thumb drive also. Many create a report on the same pc and when it crashes it's useless, right?

You can them pull out of the cncm folder on the thumb drive any settings, macros or other changes you might have made.
