Perhaps you would be able to use a latching relay? and send an additional signal for carousel out?

Attached is a copy of "acorn_mill_plc.src" with the carousel in/out solenoid logic changed, to work with a single-coil spring-return solenoid.

You should be able to install the update using F7/Utility -> F2/Restore Report.

I am fairly certain that these changes will survive future use of the Wizard.

Let me know if this solves your carousel in/out issue.

RefinedFab wrote:Seems it loses its tool bin location when i power everything off and start it back up. Actually i think it remembers the bin location it is at and what tool is in the spindle but it starts spinning the carousel several turns until i stop it waiting on mem 64 like its waiting on a home location sensor?? Any idea? What i have to do to get around it is initialize the ATC but that resets all my bin/tool numbers
This is probably because the code in InitialStage that is supposed to load the previously-saved carousel position and putback location is conditional on ATCType_W==1, but ATCType_W does not get set until after InitialStage has finished its one and only scan.

To work correctly, the code in InitialStage would have to test SV_MACHINE_PARAMETER_830 instead.

Attached is an update with that change.

Hats off to cncsnw! He got the bugs worked right out of the ATC.

This retrofit was quite the endeavor for me. I bought it off eBay, sight unseen for basically scrap price. Drove 300 miles to chattanooga, TN to rig it onto my trailer and nurse it home. Had a buddy unload it in my shop with a forklift and started cleaning it up 2.5 years ago. Made it's first chips less than a year after and has performed flawlessly Finally getting the atc to work has been very intimidating so I kept putting it off until I got tired of looking at the lonely ether1616 board sitting on the shelf

Anyway here are some glamour shots of a few recent parts. I tried to load videos but it wouldn't let me...

Not bad for a 30+ year old machine ... Still rock solid and getting run everyday, thanks centroid and those who helped get this done! This is a pretty awesome community with tons of knowledge and members who are eager to help out!

I'm now looking for the next project because 2 vmc's is better than 1😃

Very nice! Beautiful parts!
You upload the video to YouTube and then share a link here
Please do so, showing the machine, it running and pan to the operator's display
