Gecko drives gr214v (Resolved)
Hi all, Im upgrading my DM860A stepper driver to the gr214v but im having some issues...
1) with the old drivers (DM860A) and acorn board my machine moves exactly the distance commanded to move either way.
2) gr214v and a old usb BOB my machine moves the same way as the point above..
but now that im trying to use the acorn board with the gr214v stepper drivers my machine is not accurate.. If I zero my machine and then command an g0 or g1 x10 it moves 9.47 if at the same position I do a g0 or g1 20mm it moves to the 20mm, then I tried to move my machine to the left of my X axis and Start loosing steps incrementally.. 10.10, 10.20, 10.40....
So my thoughts are that isn't backlash since the numbers are not consistent, Could be some communication between the acorn board and the stepper?.
I have rewire my control box just in case but the problem not solved...
Hope someone can guide me...
Hope I express well my self.. TIA
Attached you can find a copy of my report

Re: Gecko drives gr214v
Hi, I am using, 201x's. I had to tweek the you number until I got the correct measurements. I think it has something to do with the difference in the microstepping algorithm s of the two drivers.

Re: Gecko drives gr214v
More info please. Post pictures and a description of how you wired it up
What are your dip switch settings on the GR214V?
Are you using the DB25 or the Acorn headers?
Do you have +5VDC going to CN2 PIN 4 Common?
From the manual:
This pin connects to the controller's +5VDC supply terminal if 5V logic is used or a +3.3VDC supply terminal
if 3.3V logic signals are used. The maximum current draw from the supply is 15mA at +5VDC or 8mA at
+3.3VDC. The absolute maximum voltage limits to this pin is -0.3VDC and +6VDC

Re: Gecko drives gr214v
Resolution it's set to 16ustep
I'm using acorn headers.
I've connected the 5vdc.
Attached you can find a diagram how it's connected.

Re: Gecko drives gr214v
Did you match the dip switches for the correct amps.?

Re: Gecko drives gr214v
Use the DB25 connector. Buy a DB25 breakout board from Amazon:
https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... _gear.html
Connect using the standard schematic: Your GR214V ground will go to DB25 Common pin 18-25
Do not connect the ENABLE on the drive.
Give that a try. It may well not be compatible with the signals on the Acorn header.

Re: Gecko drives gr214v
thanks for posting the report.zip from that i see you have steps per rev set to 1600 for x,y,z
16 micro steps setting on the drive with a 200 step per rev motor yields 3200 steps per rev. set the wizard to match the drive setting.
see this related post.
