Each Home/Limit switch on its own input - possible? (Resolved)

Post by Chris D »

Good morning all,

I am moving right along with my Re-Control from MACH 3 to Centroid Acorn. Got almost all the bits and pieces needed and am starting the changeover.

My machine is a router - 3 axes.

I only have Home switches on the machine (used also for limit) so I have 1 switch on each end of the axis. They are currently wires normally closed and each pair goes to it own input on MACH 3.

Looking over all the schematics, it appears that ACORN needs to have all axes limit switches wired in series through normally closed contacts AND wired to one input. Is it possible to wire each axis to its own input?

I am not really biased to one method over the other, just being too lazy to rewire all my switches.

Yes, you can wire it such that each axis limit switch has it's own input.

Wizard lets you choose from LimitAll, HomeAll, or choose axis by axis to use an input to limit or home on a particular axis. Select Limt from the Input Type, then select LimitAll or an axis opttion. To home, select Home from Input Type and select either HomeAll or one of the other options. As long as you don't need more than two inputs for other devices, homing/limiting per axis works fine. If you need more inputs/outputs, then you either combine the limits/homing to LimitAll/HomeAll or you can purchase the 16x16 I/O extender board. The extender board is an excellent product. It comes with everything you need to expand your Acorn. Wizard recognizes the extension board.
