Re: Acorn controller card question
the acorn board is anclosed in the yellow metal cover with my logo, you can se the 3 servo drives on the top right side and the spindle vfd on the left, also on the right side you can see the carousel stepper motor drive that i was talking about.
maybe if there is no way to make that umbrella magazine work, i can set a fixed tool rack across the machine table and make the right programms for that.

Re: Acorn controller card question
I asked you a question, does the ATC swing in and swing out.
Go here and review the Carousel ATC instructions.

Search for this link:
Acorn CNC12 v4.6 ATC programs and instructions
https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... ograms.zip
Its doable, but you are not providing FULL information on how the ENTIRE tool change process works. I can't drag it out of you.
And I can't do it for you....you can hire Centroid to do it for you if you wish.

Re: Acorn controller card question
i am sorry i tought i answered you question, no the ATC doesn't swing in and out, its fixed, it only rotates, the spindle goes and pick up the tools.
it's ok you can help me a lot with that video links, they really helps, maybe i don't know how to explain how the tool change process works, but it should be like most cnc routers does, start a program go from home pick up a tool, use it as needed go leave that tool, grab an other tool from the magazine, and do the same thing.

Re: Acorn controller card question
It will work. Just read up on the links I sent you. You probably need to get a standard stepper driver that can drive the stepper you have. Maybe there are markings on the stepper motor that you can search to find a cut sheet on it or just replace it. Steppers are cheap enough. I would rather use the ATC on the machine than use a linear rack.noel-nogal wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 2021 3:08 pm i am sorry i tought i answered you question, no the ATC doesn't swing in and out, its fixed, it only rotates, the spindle goes and pick up the tools.

Re: Acorn controller card question
Mr. Marty, it is necessary to have the optical sensors in the turret in order to get the gray code? or cnc12 is able to calculate the tool position just with the amount of time the motor takes to rotate the full 360 degrees as well?

Re: Acorn controller card question
Yes, you need the four sensors to get gray code. CNC12 uses that information to determine when the tool called is confirmed.noel-nogal wrote: ↑Sat Apr 24, 2021 11:27 am Mr. Marty, it is necessary to have the optical sensors in the turret in order to get the gray code? or cnc12 is able to calculate the tool position just with the amount of time the motor takes to rotate the full 360 degrees as well?
There is a timer based turret. All in that ATC package I pointed you to.
But you have an Axis driven ATC do you not?

Re: Acorn controller card question
no, i still trying to find the way to use the cnc12 plc to control the ATC, i was looking at this shcematic sheet, this reffers to a lathe turret but i suppose that it would be the same with the router carousel isn't? if it's possible i can add two more sensors to the carousel plate and configurate them to get the 4 bit gray code

Re: Acorn controller card question
that chematic reffers only to time based and uses only home sensor,
