Shopbot PRT - fresh install CNC12

Post by robtown »

I had to do a fresh install of CNC12 Router. I had Mill running previously before my control machine died.

I think I have all my settings right, or at least how they were before.

My "home" routine, for X and Y, isn't working now.

Did you have a custom one? If so, do you have a report that you can restore it from?

Also, since it is a fresh install, is it related to the same issue as in this thread?

It was not a custom file.

I don’t have a report as my control computer died and I never made any copies of any of my reports.

I did go back into the CNC12 Wizard and create a homing routine (I had not done so previously) and now it tries to home on start up.

But when it does the homing routine, it just goes right on by the limit switch in X.

Shoot... I thought I had done that. Apologies.

I’m 400 miles away from the machine now. I’ll have another go when I get back home in a week or so.

I’ll go through that thread you provided, and (when I get back) double check my selections for the creating the homing routine in the Acorn Settings wizard.

Ok, I had some time to spend on this recently.
Still no luck.
I think I have it configured correctly, or at least how it was configured before the fresh install of CNC12 Router.
Attached (hopefully) you should see a report, my axis and homing configurations, and my input (alt-I) screen. The inputs screengrabs show the inputs with X and Y "home" limit switches lit up and not lit up. (you'll see that they light up 5 and 6 under the Inputs 1 section)

The issue right now is that it attempts to do the homing on start up, but just goes right on by the X-axis limit switch instead of stopping. I always move the gantry to positive X 2 inches or so before trying so it's moving in -X to the limit switch.

Any help or thoughts would be much appreciated.

Ok... Just went into the Wizard and set Input 5 to SecondAxisHomeOK and Input 6 to FirstAxisHomeOK... looks that's what I needed? (had to remove HomeAll from input 1)

Moving on to my Zzero Plate.

do you have a report.zip from your old install? if so it contains all the info you need on how it was setup at the time that the report.zip was made.
or if you have a copy of the running cncm folder.

Sorry, I have none of that.

My previous control computer died and I started from scratch.

note to everyone.. the report.zip is the heart and soul of the cnc control configuration. always make a fresh report.zip on any running machine and save it OFF the cnc pc somewhere safe. that way if the cnc pc every fails you can quickly get the system back up and running with minimal fuss.
