Does anyone know if there is an advantage to using the DB25 connector instead of the H2, H3 screw terminals when switching over to 5v from 24? Is the signal cleaner through the DB25? (If) there is an advantage should the cable be made or cut the end off of one already made to a terminal block?
I will be switching over to 5v as soon as I get the resistors.
Thanks to Centroid and Teknic for stepping up and optimizing this setup for us small guys trying to have a more professional repeatable machine.

It would be possible. But for now, follow the guidance tested and provided by Centroid.

The DB25 will give you TTL output signals, which is great for most stepper systems. If using the terminals, you can pull-up to +5vdc. That is what we do with the C86ACCP and C86ACORN boards.

Tech2 states "I think there is some confusion about how the open collector screw terminal outputs on H2 and H3 work.
They don't supply any voltage. They pull down to COM/GND to turn on.
Therefore they are whatever signal voltage you supply as a pullup voltage(5,12,24)."
Question is.. Is that statement true for The H1 and H4 blocks?

this should be another post.

short answer NO.

H1 and H4 are inputs designed to work with 24 VDC, see schematic hookup diagrams for examples.

I wanted to share my experience with the acorn/clearpath sdsk servos just in case there is anyone out there following this string.

I've been using the setup (with no resistors per the wiring diagram released october 21st 2019, version 2) for a few months now, just running test cuts (ect.) and i have not seen any missed steps.

Thanks for the feedback! That is great to hear. There have been a handful of other similar success stories shared on here. The most concerning issue I learned was an individual I know who had no issues for about 18 months, and then the issues appeared after what would seem to be a minor wiring change. (the removal of GX16 plugs and cables wired directly into Acorn) This made me concerned that even if I got my machine working it would be a temporary success. Luckily Centroid and Teknic put their heads together to provide a solution if any of us ever experience issues. I chose to go the C86ACCP route and feed pretty confident it will be successful.

I may have spoken too soon, my Y axis has now developed a jitter when attempting to hold a position, I'm going to add the 5 volt 100 ohm resisters to see if that helps, I'll report back once complete.

When attempting to hold a position with the spindle on or off?

Servo "hunt" is more likely to be a tuning or parameter setting issue, especially if the spindle is off

Its when the spindle is on (during a drilling operation)

Just found this video from franco that shows how the "fine tune" option within clearpaths MSP software may help with jitter, ill also try this.
