External cycle start/stop bottons <answered>

Post by Jarrod P »

Hello all,
I'm building a small custom fiber optic machine with Acorn platform to mill an end finish on plastic optical fiber. I would like the machine to have a foot switch to operate the cycle start.

I was wondering if anyone has done this before and would like to know how to go about doing this.
Thank you,

There is an input you can assign to do that. I believe it is Cyclestart2. There is also a CycleCancel2 if you want a second foot pedal switch for that.

Yup, of course possible as Marty stated. I installed a remote "cycle start" push button on the front of my cnc router when the keyboard or mouse are not within reach. Perfect for tool changes and my auto Z0 macro. Just wire up your foot pedal to any of the Acorn inputs and set that input to "cyclestart2" as Marty noted. If you use a NC switch/foot pedal you will have to invert the input.
