Re: Z axis has suddenly stopped going forwards (only when running gcode, it goes in both directions when I use the MPG)
Re-reading my post in which I said "things are still the same", I was actually saying that there was no change in the homing position for either axis, and that the X axis limit was still tripping whilst running pawn-mm.

what make model limit switches are being used? how are they mounted ...photo? etc..

Yes, please follow this post: viewtopic.php?f=60&t=1043

The limits are inductive proximity switches. The Z axis limit switch is now on the tailstock, the X axis limit switch is at the positive end of X travel.
I will make a Youtube video later today.

What do you have your rapids set at? If the Acorn is showing movement then it is outputting pulses. If the motor is not moving, then you are loosing pulses, or your motor can't move that fast. Do you get the same results if you MDI G1 Z0 F200?
Cheers,
Tom

Hi Tom, nice to hear from you.
I'm not sure what my rapids are set to, what is the quickest way to see?
When I run G1 Z0 F200 using the MDI, it grays out the command and the Z axis doesn't move.

Your rapid for z is currently set to 600mm/min which shouldn't be a problem (these are located under F1 setup/F3 config/F2 Mach/F1 jog. I forgot we were working with a lathe here so MDI G1 G98 Z0 F200.
Cheers,
Tom

Re: Z axis has suddenly stopped going forwards (only when running gcode, it goes in both directions when I use the MPG)
When using proximity sensors, the target should approach the face at a right angle, not directly to the sensor.
Not that this is your issue, but its not good practice to set the sensors up the way you did.
I would not have put Z on a movable object like the tailstock. I would have fixed it at the end of the bed with the target attached to the side of the apron so that when it approached the Z+ sensor, it would pass over its face. You can't effectively set and trust any soft limits on the machine with a moveable home switch.
If you take the X+ sensor and turn it 90 degrees so the cross slide passes in front of it, that would be much better.
I watch this thread with interest to see exactly what the issue is. I would have liked to see a video of the issue too.

When I paste the sequence you posted into the MDI, the Z axis moves to Z0 as expected at a feedrate of 200mm per min
Cheers
