Spindle Speed

Post by tuffduck »

Hello,
I have been trying to increase the auto spindle speed to 18000 rpm but the highest it always defaults to is 16,200 rpm. I checked all of the settings on the Huanyang VFD and in the tool library to 18,000. The tool settings in the program are also set at 18000 rpm. I know I have something set incorrectly but just don't know where to look. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

max speed is controlled by the inverter. increase the max inverter freq. to increase spindle motor speed.

Hey, can you share your spindle settings on centroid cnc12? I have 800w aircooled spindle with 1.5kw Huanyang VFD. I connected analog 10v wires to vfd, and i can start spindle thru program, but i cant control speed. i can control speed from VFD knob. Any help?

sounds like vfd settings need to be set so that the VFD will 'listen' to the 0-10 signal

Keith is of course correct, both issues are settings in the VFD. Neither issue is with Acorn or setting in the software. Read through the manual for your particular VFD, both answers are in there and simple parameter settings in the VFD.

Thanks, i know that my vfd base frequency and other frequencies are set to 400 by default. But can you please show me what settings do i have to select in software? My spindle can go 6k-24k rpm.

Thanks!

Looking at the report file you posted your max spindle speed you have set in the wizard is 18000. The minimum is 10000. Go into the wizard under spindle setup and set the spindle max speed to 24000 and set the minimum to 0. Leave the other settings alone. Encoder defaults to 8000 and the speed ratios are both 1 if I remember correctly. See if this makes a difference.

Did you run the analog spindle bench test when you bench tested the Acorn? There's a video on YouTube for this.

Thanks for leading me in the right direction. Once I changed PD072 to 0 and PD072 to 300, all is working correctly.

Great, so the VFD was not set up properly for your spindle? The default is usually 400hz and you are saying your spindle is 300hz? Glad you have it working now.

Yes, it was 300hz, It was set 270hz. 400hz, caused it to go to 24000 and tripped an audible alarm.
