Trouble starting the Wizard <resolved>

Post by Knaegten »

Hi everyone.

I have trouble launching the wizard from CNC12 or directly from c/cncm directory. I have attached the error message.

I have ensured that CNC12 is neither running a job or in MDI mode. Furthermore i have tried reinstalling CNC12. Upon a fresh reinstall the wizard works, however, when loading my report the error will return.

My current CNC12 configuration is not linked to my old report and after configuring in the Wizard the same as last time, i eventually got the samme error message.

Best regards,

Rasmus

Take a look at your error logs. You have a huge number of PC/MPU Resends that needs to be addressed.
F7 Utilties, F9 Logs, F1 Errors
Please post a picture of your control cabinet.
Are you using the shielded cable that came with Acorn?
Is your PC Ethernet Drivers updated?
What kind of spindle do you have? Shielded cable installed properly from VFD to the motor?
You need to track down the cause of this. I would also not try to upgrade the software for fear of bricking the BBG during the firmware update until this is taken care of.
Marty

Attached is a picture of the control cabinet.

A short male to female ethernet cable is used from the board to the wire panel, and then the included shielded ethernet cable to the computer.

Spindle is using unshielded cable.

The PC is an Intel NUC I3. Ethernet drivers are updated AFAIK.

Do you think this is an issue caused by interference?

It could be.
Did you use a shielded bulkhead connector? Is the short cable a shielded cable?
Get this fixed and then see.

You could use the Centroid provided shielded cable from the PC directly to Acorn and run a job or two and check the logs. If the resends persist,
power down the VFD and cut air and see if the resends persist.

Will do.

Thank you thus far.

Will report back when test has been conducted.

You can buy a shielded bulkhead connector and short ethernet shielded cables on Amazon.
You must use the shielded cables.

Shielded cable is a must on nearly all connections in an Acorn system. Especially the spindle connection to the VFD. It'll save you a lot of headaches down the road.
