Question about affects of Offset Screen

Post by terrymcc »

I am having the following issue;

If I am at the home screen and have selected a tool, the reading would be T02 H02 for example with tool 2 having been selected.

If I open (and don't even change anything) in the tool offset screen and return to the main screen, it reads T02 H---

If I go to MDI and request T02H02, it remains T02 H---. I have to go in and reset the Part Z0 to get the display back. this can be pretty painful depending on what is set up...

If I go ahead and run a program, its OK but I can't use MDI.

Am I doing something wrong or is this the intended operation?

I do... I've just spent so long getting everything up and going on both lathe and mill, I'm anxious about possibly loosing it. Need to look up the doc on doing a software upgrade.

just make a copy of your existing cncm or cnct directory, if you want to go back to the old stuff simple rename/copy it back. easy peasy.

So I'm checking to make sure I understand how bit-mapped values work:

If I want the Reference tool position set to Z home AND Tool Height Retention Option ON
then I would set parameter #3 = 6

Is this correct?
