Limit Switch override issue (Resolved)
I am using a Mill Turn so I have a configuration for milling and a different one for lathe. In milling ,ode, the limit switch override works as expected. If I get to a limit, I can press the limit override button on the VCP and it lights up and lets me off the switch. In lathe mode, it appears to ignore the button press (it doesn't light) and it won't let me move.
I keep staring at the wizard, but can't see what is wrong. Likely an oversight on my part.... Would somebody point it out for me?
Thanks

Re: Limit Switch overide issue
I C for the third lathe axis rather than Y and the issues went away

Re: Limit Switch overide issue
Argh! I just thought it was ok. In the lathe mode, limit the cerise doesn’t work as described in the initial post.
Any idea what might be going on?

Re: Limit Switch overide issue
Why not set you limits up properly so they are never reached?

Can you post from a keyboard? Spelling is making things confusing....

Re: Limit Switch overide issue
Sorry, sometimes the phone auto correct takes over and I don't think to proof before hitting send. And, there seems to be no way to edit your post after sending and realizing what happened.
In any case, the issue is that in lathe mode, the limit over ride button on the VCP does not work. In mill mode, if you activate a limit switch, you can press that button and it allows a small amount of movement to safely get off the switch. When running the lathe version of CNC12, if you activate a limit switch, pressing the button does nothing. The button light does not come on and it will not allow you to move. The only way off is to power down the drive and take the screw cover off to manually move it.
Reports for both lathe and mill are attached to the initial post.
Thanks for trying to help...

Re: Limit Switch overide issue
From your lathe report, it appears you have not set up your soft limits. Any reason you didn't do that?
If you properly set up your soft limits, once you home, you shouldn't be getting into your limit switches.
Your mill report only shows one home input setup?

Re: Limit Switch overide issue
Yes, I only set up one home. Since it is a Mill Turn, I was concerned that when powered up, depending on whether it has a lathe QTC or chuck on it that home might get me into trouble. So I set it up to home Z which never changes and jogged it to what made sense depending on the mode being run and homed it there. I've seldom been on the limit switches but noticed during start up testing that that button doesn't work and if I were for some reason on the X limit, it would be a pain to power down and remove the bed way cover to turn the screw. I just wanted all the buttons on the screen to work correctly...
After running the machine a few days, it is obvious that home switches would be way more convenient. So I have rearranged things so that there is a safe place to home all axis in either Mill or Lathe. I have eliminated use of the limit switches and configured soft limits now that I have fixed Home locations.
This will be much more user friendly.

Re: Limit Switch overide issue
Just FYI, we tested the LIMIT ALL.
It does NOT work with a Y axis in lathe. We tried using C axis linear and it works.
Once you push the limit override button you have 5 seconds to execute the move. YOU have to choose the axis and YOU have to use care to back off in the correct direction. The control has NO idea which axis tripped the limit, unlike a control where each limit has its own input. This is what I wanted clarification on.
