VFD Interference with Clearpath Servos

Good day folks,
I have an interesting problem. I had a VERY loud porter cable router and wanted something a bit easier on the ears so I purchased a water-cooled spindle and VFD from Automation Technologies. Everything arrived very quickly and wired up as expected. It accomplished the goal of a quieter operation but my movement has been prohibited.

Here is where it gets strange- with the VFD turned off I have full control of the machine just as I did with the router. When I turn the spindle on its a different animal- my ranges are limited when relocating at "rabbit" speed- they move but q "De" enable. My immediate thought was to double check ground to spindle- I grounded that (ground wire to spindle body)and upgraded my cable between the VFD and spindle. The issue remained. One interesting observation is that if I have the movement in "snail" mode it will go entire distances on all axis's. I have put 1K resistors inline with my step, direction and enable wires but no difference was made.

Has anyone else had this issue- again with the spindle off it works as expected.

Just looking for next steps.

Thanks in advance!

I’m unclear on the actual issue you’re having, but it sounds a lot like what I just went through.

Your 1k pull-up resistors should be across the outputs, between the 24v+ and output (not inline/series).

Thank you, I see the schematic you posted I will mimic that- stay tuned.

Well I may have done something catastrophic. I pulled a wire from the 24+ power coming in ran it over to the 24 in on H1- seemed logical it does say 24 in- then ran a resistor into my z axis- a couple of zaps and a tiny bit of smoke I see now that you clearly did not have the 24+ wired in there. Anyway.... that being said now the board shows axis enabling but no other signals are being send out (even though on the PC screen it states movement)- I do have 8.4 volts on 24 IN on H1- am thinking it is just there as an amplifier for the signal. I think I smoked my board. If there is a way to test it with a multimeter please let me know :)
Thanks for the schematic, I am going to save it for the next board if mine is in fact dead.

No problem with running 24v to the 24v in on H1, that’s what that terminal is for. When you say you “ ran a resistor into my z axis” what terminal did you connect it to?

As Marty, Keith and many others repeatedly say:

Reminder, for support please follow this post: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=383
We can't "SEE" what you see...

Above all, post a CURRENT report .zip to get detailed help

Thank you everyone. I realize that you cannot see what I can see. I will work on explaining more clearly.

As for the resistors I put them in line from 24IN H4 to my Z axis step and direction terminals..

I have to take a step back for a while as now nothing is happening and I have voltage at the 24IN on h4 with no wires connected which makes me think something is awry with my acorn board (self induced)

Cheers!

Here is the report, if you can peruse this and see anything glaring that would be fantastic

Here are the pictures with my meter going from H1 24IN to Ground and then H4 24IN to Ground where they both show 8.4 volts.
This power is coming from my clearpaths somehow as when I remove power to those this voltage goes away. I am just wondering if I ruined a diode or two on the acorn board in my adventures.
