I have 2 spindles on my Acorn converted mill
horizontal and vertical spindles.
Can i install 2 versions of the software on the same computer , if i install the 2 (or more) different versions in different folders/location
so i can have 1 for the horizontal setup and one for the vertical?
i can also tilt the head =more setups?

Re: Acorn mill different machine setup vertical / horisontal
Others that are more informed on the subject might have more to add, but you could install once and set it up for say 'Vertical', then make a copy of that one (C:\cncm) and rename the copy to cncm_V. Start CNC12 again and this time, set it up for 'Horizontal'. Drawback would be that you have to rename each folder back to just cncm before use and you would have to keep them straight. Possibly a different logo on the VCP would be enough to let you at a glance as to which one you're using.

Check out this post for an easy solution on how to switch between 2 versions of CNC12 on the same computer.

I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are where they should be.

Re: Acorn mill different machine setup vertical / horisontal
thx for the tips guys
AS mentioned in the topic Swissi linked to , that was my initial idea.
different folders with modified shortcuts pointing to the different folders.
But if Swissi confirms it does not work i won't waste time on testing it
As always , great work Swissi , will look into that solution
@Tom , yes that was the reason i thought of 2 machine configurations in the first place.

Re: Acorn mill different machine setup vertical / horisontal
QUICK THOUGHTS (and thinking out loud):
I didn't follow up on the links provided by the other posters....
I think you could do it. You would have to have two installations of CNC12 for mill. Obviously you could only have one at a time, BUT you have to rename the directories back and forth.
It might be possible to run a script that would have windows rename the directories for you and then launch CNC12....that would be the trick....but I think it could be doable. Back in the DOS days (Yes, I am that old) it could be done with a batch file and simple menu system....
Otherwise you would have to manually do it.
