Mill/Lathe Board Testing

Post by miamicraft »

Are the Acorn mill/lathe boards identical. Would like to buy mill board and test setup on mini router. Would then like to move to lathe (on order) for final deployment. Is this a problem? Can I download both sets of free software?

On my test benches, I use both mill and lathe on each of the Acorn boards.

Yes, the boards are identical. You can download both versions of the free software but when you buy a licenses for Mill, Lathe or Router, that licenses is registered to the Acorn board.

Some have done multiple installs on the same computer in order run run mill or lathe. Each install has its own set of directories. It can get a little tricky!

You are however restricted from running both Router and Mill on the same PC with the new beta 4.59 software. I assume the same restriction will remain when production version 4.6 is released.

Remember the licenses are TIED to the board however....Free versions of the lathe and mill software no problem.
You can create a report and restore it to another Acorn. If running FREE you are done. If you have a license for that Acorn, load it after restoring the report (Same version of software)
