Hi Marty,

I did not see anything in the Acorn System Schematic set that shows wire diagrams for the control box only wire diagrams for the Acorn board to different motors and such.

will this encoder work for my lathe? "Omron Rotary Encoder 2000 P/R E6B2-CWZ1X E6B2CWZ1X"

or would I need to buy the one you used on the PC5? "TRD-N1000-RZVWD"

I plan to order the Estop button today that you recommended "mxuteuk 1 NC 22mm Red Mushroom Emergency Stop Push Button Switch AC 660V 10A HB2-BS542"

Thanks
Dave

If that is the rotary encoder off ebay, then use at your own risk. Many are knock offs of the genuine Omron unit.
You only need a 1000 line encoder, 2000 will work
Spec sheet on Genuine Omron Encoder:
http://www.ia.omron.com/data_pdf/cat/e6 ... csm491.pdf
These are NOT designed to have a pulley hanging off of them. The pulley would need to be on a jackshaft and then the shaft coupled to the encoder

Hi Marty,

I just ordered the Estop button and the Spindle Encoder you suggested.

would you happen to have a part number for the Hall Effect Sensor you ordered?

"8MM XB.BB.191 8mm NPN NO Hall Effect Sensor and 6mmx1mm magnet"

Thanks
Dave

I bought one from eBay. Automationdirect.com
If you use a hall effect sensor, make sure the magnet is protected from swarf

I believe this is the correct sensor. Note the end is FLAT and is required
It has an M8 thread:

Hi Marty,

Thank you for the confirmation on the correct sensor. It doesn't look like a magnet comes with it (or maybe I a missing it in the description) did you have to order a separate magnet for this sensor?

Also I am not sure how I will mount this to my lathe (just yet). You had mentioned that you drilled a small hole in the pully on your spindle but I don't have a pully on mine. I cant seem to find that part in your video on YouTube for the PC5.

Thanks again for you help i really do appreciate it.

Do you have a build album so we can see you build project?

Hi Marty,

No I don't have a build album.

but here is where i am at.

Image

also I did see that the sensor don't come with a magnet. would you happen to have a link for that as well?

Thanks

That one picture does not help me understand how you are connecting your axis motors to your machine and where you potentially could put home switches on each axis. Please take the time to take pictures of your build and put them in a Google Photo album or post them here.
Remember, we can not "SEE" what you "SEE"

Better information provided by you will allow us to give you better suggestions.....
