That's a good bit of info!ShawnM wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 6:28 pmYou need to be looking at the "single thread rating" which is 2021. The 7332 number is the average CPU rating. 2021 is very good. My Craigslist, used Dell Optiplex 9020 with a 120GB SSD and 8GB of ram has an i5-4570 CPU is has a single thread rating of 2020 and has never had any issues and will vcarve at 150 ipm with my custom smoothing setup all day long. Cost me $125 if I remember correctly.Maker1970 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 6:09 pm Was just sizing up the laptop that I bought earlier in the year. The cpu benchmarks 7332
Amd Ryzen 7 3700U dual-core processor (Up to 4.0 GHz) | 8GB DDR4 Memory | 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD
Now the PCie SSD is stupid fast and I bumped it up to 32 gigs of ram and added a 1T samsung ssd.
Problem is I have about $800 into that one. LOL may be a bit overkill.

Re: Acorn CNC12 v4.59 Public BETA rev12 is now available for testing!
Planning on testing my son's Laser Ink from Kickstarter in the next day or two.
Are there any Centroid Specific commands or Post Processor to change from spindle control to the laser PWM?
Has anyone run test laser G-Code files other than the test laser programs included with the Beta? Looking to use Vectric Laser Plug In or Lightburn to generate G-Code laser files.

The beta release notes has all the information on the laser m&g codes related to lasers The draft schematics have several laser-related schematics as well so please check out both those documents

Haven't tested it yet, but I got a mach 3 post from the jtec website and modified it with just a couple changes from spindle on and off to m37 and m38.RogDC wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 2:34 pm Planning on testing my son's Laser Ink from Kickstarter in the next day or two.

I use a mach 3 post out of my cabinet software on centroid, so I know that part works. We are getting snowing in for the holidays here in central MN. Maybe I will get that install done then and let you know how it goes.

Here's a video of my Jtech 7w laser doing a fill and outline of a moose scene silhouette on a small (2.5" dia) branch cut off. This was done with the high res lens option installed.

If my china laser does half that well i will be happy. I have a large scale 40watts co2 that I built. It works alright but is in a wood enclosure and needs alignment frequently. This will need to be redone sometime in the future. I am doing a cabinet job in a custom gun vault and the customer wants to do some second amendment work on the walls. That is what the small laser will be for.Sword wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 6:11 pm Here's a video of my Jtech 7w laser doing a fill and outline of a moose scene silhouette on a small (2.5" dia) branch cut off. That looks great. Which software did you use to generate the G-Code?Sword wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 6:11 pm Here's a video of my Jtech 7w laser doing a fill and outline of a moose scene silhouette on a small (2.5" dia) branch cut off. This was done with the high res lens option installed.
