Do you guys think there will ever be a plasma version of CNC 12?

I was just watching the new CNC 12 beta video, they added a router specific mode to the program which is pretty neat. That made me wonder if adding a CNC plasma mode is something Centroid is thinking of developing in the future?

Centroid has been testing various tool height controllers for plasma operations and collecting feedback from plasma users. They are definitely working on a plasma version. Rumor has it that they are looking at a laser specific version as well. The future is looking very promising!
Cheers,

Tom

There has been a lot of discussion on using a plasma torch with the acorn. And some testing on the part of Centroid and others you can search the forum for +plasma in the advanced search. One that has a lot of info is viewtopic.php?f=60&t=3921&hilit=plasma

we bailed on all third party THC's and are building our own they are all to slow (plc based) to run fast...ours is optically isolated and uses the Acorn Encoder port for feedback... 4000 times a second.... to be continued..

The question was answered Black Forest. 8-)

Here is the point really, Keith and his team are listening to users, but they don't have an endless supply of programmers.
Keith spilt the beans. They know how to design electronics. Very cool they are designing their own THC.

If you are more than a casual Plasma user, maybe he'll be looking for Plasma Beta Testers...
But I will be the first to tell you, it takes effort and time, (and sometimes money!) but it is rewarding to help develop a product.

Acorn is less than 5 years old and has had multiple hardware upgrades and countless number of software upgrades. Centroid isn't sitting around.
There IS a benefit for the hardware and software coming from the same manufacturer who specializes in CNC Machine controls. They are designed to work together and help comes from this active forum.

Hang in there, it will be worth the wait....
