I witnessed the something similar some time ago on an All in One DC. Turned out to be an issue with the VFD.

Arthur...
I would suggest the following:
Use Teknic's wire for control & power to the ClearPath motors
Install a properly rated EMI filter on the power (in) side of the VFD
Install resistors on the control wires as per the Teknic Manual
(possibly) install EMI filters on the power (in) side of the IPC# power supplies

Just an update. I installed 10kOhm pull up resistor on step/direction inputs of my ClearPath servos and it didn't help to solve the problem. I am still at the stage where I can run a G-code on my router when my spindle is controlled by Sunfar from its own keypad with disconnected analog speed control coming from Acorn. As soon as I connect 0-10V spindle control output of Acorn to Sunfar VFD analog input and reconfigure Sunfar to be controlled externally, idling spindle causes convulsive movements on my Y-master axis.

Any thoughts?

I have clip-on ferrite Ring Core RFI EMI Noise Suppressors installed on both my IPC-5 power supplies. To the best of my understanding it is an electrical noise introduced into Acorn PLC by Sunfar E550 via analog control wire. If it would be a EMI issue I would not be able to run the spindle and a G-code with E550 controlled from its own keypad either, although I agree with you that it is a good practice installing a EMI on power input side of my VFD. I am also entertaining an idea of isolating the analog control wire optically.

I have no idea where in my text you got a hint to disregarding your advice, really. The whole purpose of me asking for help on this forum was to learn from other fellows and their experiences.

1. I have followed Teknic's guidelines to wire the servos and as I noted earlier I fave EMI filters installed on both of IPC-5 power supplies and Acorn's MEANWELL PS.

2. I have ordered another EMI filter rated for my VFD and will install it as soon as I receive it.

Now please not: All the electronics wired in my control cabinet work just fine. Acorn PLC is running a G-code, VFD and spindle works fine if I control the spindle manually without connecting speed control feed from Acorn. I disconnected the link between Acorn and VFD and had following reading on the Ai terminal of VFD on the scope.

Also note that frequency fluctuates from 45kHz to 125kHz then jumps to 250kHz. This noise doesn't exist any where else in my control box and it is definitely introduced to Ai input of my VFD from internal switching power supply of my VFD. This noise is being passed on to Acorn that causes the problem.

Considering that my background is electronic engineering and computer science, having a circuit diagram of both Acorn output and Sunfar would be very helpful for me and I wouldn't bother anyone, but I don't have that luxury, do I. So please if you have used Sunfar VFD in conjunction with Acorn PLC, I am all ears. My Sunfar VFD is single phase 240V 6.3A my spindle is 3.2Kw 24000 RPM Otherwise, everything you suggested I already did.

Just because that particular VFD has been used successfully before doesn't mean this particular VFD isn't suspect...

Just a thought...

I had weird issues with that exact VFD. A sunfar 550. I had a lot of electrical noise issues. Random estops. Drawbar software crashes. Other miscellaneous problems. I put in a GS-2 VFD from Automation Direct and all the issues went away.
