Is this a feature/option that could be added to the wizard in upcoming versions under "cnc control preferences" that a user could toggle off or on and have cnc12 startup with the keyboard jog active? It would certainly save many users this extra step and would allow those who do use this feature have it come on automatically for them.

I am not sure where it the final decision ended up, but I think this was considered as an option for the router version.

Thanks Gary, I didn't see it in the release notes for the latest beta version rev 2. There was an improvement to keyboard jogging but it wasn't an "enable" feature.

With VCP, why is there a need to bring up the Alt-J picture Legend?
I'm just curious to understand.

Hi Marty, it's not for the picture legend as I have that option for ALT-J turned off because it is not needed as you mention. It's for the ability to jog the machine with the keyboard WITHOUT having to press ALT-J every time you start the machine. I'm a router user and both machines I operate use a wireless keyboard. After the machine homes itself and the spindle warms up I grab my keyboard and walk over to the machine to get the material set up. Having the option to have the ALT-J enabled by default saves me one step everytime the machine starts. It would just be nice if it were an option in the wizard.

At least that's my reasoning, not sure about the original poster.

This is not about making the Jog Legend visible. In most cases it wouldnt be visible. It is about having keyboard jogging enabled (ALT + J) at startup. The vast majority of control software in the router field have keyboard jogging as the primary method of operator input. Which, of course, is the opposite of a mill.

But having jog enabled on the PC keyboard means you will get unexpected moves when navigating the in software, tools library etc.
It's actually potentially dangerous to have it moves enabled by default, I for sure wouldn't want it.
