Purchased used cnc router with acorn78047384BB 1C-0130191582 digitizer bundle

Post by Artwood »

Im experiencing several issues that preclude me from sending .dat or report from cnc12.

At initial start and trial of system the acorn was bricked. De-bricked attempted two times and no led lights were lit. I called Centroid and decided the following was the best plan:
1. Order new BBG board — I just got the new one!
2. I believe i need Centroid tech to provide info to make the BBG compatible with Acorn board
3. Current version is 4.12 —- i hope to upgrade to latest 4.5 and register in my name
4. Software issue has not even allowed me to login to the Virtual Control Panel Most times
5. Heartbeat is lost when computer starts up
6. No communication between CNCPC and controller 452 Ethernet Error — i changed to new cable too

I hope to get assistance to get system up and running and I will send report and .dat file as soon as technically possible. I appreciate the help

Thanks

Dean, did you by chance ensure you were getting +24VDC at the Acorn power terminals +24V and COM?
So you bought the machine in this state?
Any pictures of the machine, control cabinet and Acorn connected to the PC?

I never bricked an Acorn. USUALLY someone goes to update the software and when it does the firmware update it fails because of EMI noise or someone inadvertently powers down Acorn before the firmware update has completed.

Not second guessing the Centroid tech. Just things to think about how it got to that state. The backstory would be helpful.

Yes bought in state of Washington
I just debricked today the new BBG and seemed successful - 4leds lit up. However did not get heartbeat at startup of machine. Old BBG only got 1 led when debrick day.

At software start I only have gotten “initializing MPU”. Does not start Virtual Control Panel. I have PINGED per your video
10.168.41.1 is fine
10.168.41.2 does Not work!

Any input is appreciated!
Can I load 4.5 update or not until heartbeat?

Thanks

Sorry I misunderstood state....
The machine was working. Windows 10 was removed and I’m not sure what else was done to machine...
It was moving fine for a few days for me. I was not sure how vfd worked for spindle and was not ever able to control spindle with computer.

You need the heartbeat. That means that BBG has booted. Heart beat starts a few seconds after Acorn has power. Regardless of whether or not it is connected to a PC.

Not so sure you got the firmware loaded properly in the Beagle Bone Green.

Windows 10 was removed? Please explain?
So YOU were able to move the machine while it was in your possession? What exactly led up to Acorn no longer working?

I loaded my Windows 10 since he had taken his off
Issues may have started then or ?
I just noticed that When I open wizard there is a screen Acorn Firmware update required.
Like I mentioned, I may have messed up the BBG when I wasn’t sure how to the the VFD

Windows 10 is TIED to the computer hardware, not transferable. Have no idea why that was even bothered. So you lost the CNCM directory too? Did you have a report saved?
What do you mean "...how to the the VFD?" You had to wire a VFD?

PLEASE take a screen shot of the screen you see. Use Windows 10 snipping tool and post them here. Click on the Attachments tab under the message box you type your message in. Are you saying NOW it wants to update the firmware? If so, you must have communication with Acorn but in your last post you say you could not Ping Acorn, so things don't sound right....

Sounds like you dug an unnecessary hole and now we have to figure out what's going on to get you out.

PLEASE take the time to post pictures of the machine, the control cabinet, make and model of the drives, what make and model VFD you have.

I did not add a vfd. The spindle was not starting and I may have poked a wrong button on vfd because the spindle stated but could not be controlled by computer . That was over a week ago.

Now all I get is no heartbeat with new BBG. The old BBG would have heartbeat until I started software. Then the heartbeat would be gone and the computer would not start the cnc12. Message “Initializing MPU”

Maybe I should try to debrick both BBG again?

Thanks
