Lathe Pro tool offset Front Back toggle not saved

Post by Bearcat »

Am working with Acorn CNC12 Lathe Pro v4.5 on a Sherline lathe test bed. Computer is setup per inst. and the hardware and software are working. Setup both a front and a back quick change tool post. Set parameter 1 = 1 (Horizontal Front) and parameter 163 = 1 (gang tooling). Report attached. Began setting up tools in the Tool Geometry Offset Library.

T01 is a reference zero tool for X and Z with approach Front.
T02 is a turning tool with approach Rear(toggled) / nose vector 3.

F10 saved and re-entered tool library, T02 approach has been reset to Front. Tried saving, exiting and restarting CNC12. T02 approach once again reset to Front.

Changed parameter 1 = 0 (Horizontal Rear), restarted CNC12, re-entered library, found garbled text in Approach fields, toggled T02 approach to Back, F10 saved and re-entered, T02 approach field is again garbled text, not set to Back.

Originally found this Front/Back issue in v4.12 and hoped upgrading to v4.5 had the fix. Is there a parameter out there for approach Front/Rear to stick? Could this be a bug?

Thanks, Ed

Any form of corruption suggests one or more of your databases (cnct.ol / cnct.tl / cnct.wcs) are corrupt and possibly the complete installation. Safest way is a fresh new installation (WITHOUT the shortcut of restoring from previous report) and hand copy each parameter from the screenshots.

Obviously backup the current installation by copying the complete c:\cnct folder and don't forget to take screen shots of each wizard page before starting.

hope this helps

Uninstalled/deleted all Centroid files. Installed v4.50 lathe and used the wizard to set lathe parameters. Verified parameter 1 = 1 (Horizontal Front) and set parameter 163 = 1 (gang tooling) Have attached a current report.

The tool offset approach Front/Back problem is still there. Will not save tool approach in the tool offsets. Can toggle Front/Rear but is not saved.

Changing parameter 1 = 0 (Horizontal Back) changes all to Rear approach but any change to Front is not saved.

This bug stops my work in a gang tooling setup with Centroid Acorn. When can this bug be fixed?

Ed

Changing parameter 1 = 0 (Horizontal Back) changes all to Rear approach but any change to Front is not saved.
Interesting that this should come up at this point. I just spent the last few days working on boring bar set ups and if I am reading the manual correctly, once you set a Front or rear tool post, all tools will be locked to front or rear. You can't have both unless you set CNC12 up just for gang tooling.

I'd post the page number and section but we might have different version so just go to chapter 4 and see if you can find that part.

I think you can make the fixed tool post one of your gang tools but I don't know if you can then assign different tools to that position and get the offsets to take.

I am having the same problem. I upgraded to the latest beta (v 4.59 rev 6).
Was this problem resolved? Bearcat, did you get your gang tolls to work?

I reverted to version 4.18 earlier today and the front/rear setting seems to be working fine in that version.

Just stating for reference.
