Good day
I am a newbie to cnc machines and I need help.
I have attached all relevant snapshots wiring diagram and my latest report
when I jog the X,Y,Z axes, the following occurs.
when the setting is on "Increment" and "tortoise" mode,
pressing +Y the move is ok
pressing -Y makes a screeching sound and stops when I press the +Y
+X moves continuously until I press -X
+Z moves ok
-Z for some reason moves in -X direction
this is the same scenario when it is on the "Cont" and "tortoise mode
except the -Z moves down slightly and starts moving in the -X direction.
What am I doing wrong?

Need to know what kind of machine you are working on, what make and model drives, motors, etc.
Post link to the drive manual, etc. We can help more if you provide more details and pictures.
ALWAYS get motors turning on the bench first, not on the machine....easier to troubleshoot and test.

Re: Axis drive issues
Looking at your wiring diagram, you show ENA going to DB25. DB25 does not support ENABLE. Disconnect all drive enables. I see you are taking them to COM on the DB25. Are the drives not normally enabled on power up? Motor rotors locked?
Also, any reason why you are using 2 different drives?
Make sure you set step frequency to 100KHZ in the ADVANCED TAB.
Use CONTinuous mode for testing not incremental just yet. Tortise. (SLOW JOG)

Re: Axis drive issues
Also, take your -Dir, -Step to the DB25 COMmons, not that power supply....
Likewise, take your TB6660 +Step and +Dir to the DB25 Step and Dir outputs.
Do ONE DRIVE and one MOTOR at a time, get that pair going and then go on to the next axis.
Give that a try....

Re: Axis drive issues
Hi Marty
I followed all your instructions and all the axes are moving perfectly so far.
Thank you so much, could not have done this on my own.
my next step is to connect the homeall limit switches, which I will be doing in series.
does it have to be connected in sequence, ie X,Y and then Z?

Re: Axis drive issues
I bring each home switch cable pair into the cabinet and series them there. Makes no difference how you series the three home switches, as long as they are in series.
Good to hear your axis are moving.
Stop and create a report so you have something to fall back to as you go along
