I got the existing 1024ppr encoder working with Acorn this evening. Only thing left is get the TT-4 working when it gets here.

This machine is up and running. I have a LOT to learn about gang tool setups. Thankfully we have Suntravel's excellent work as a starting point.

Spent some time sorting out the Hardinge CNC lathe. Turns out the servo tuning was the issue. Got it making a little 1/4-20 bolt kind of part. It's a little slow while I work things out, but it's working reliably!

I need to figure out how the chamfer cycle in intercon works. Kicking my butt currently.

I wish I would have seen your thread sooner. I also converted a Hardinge Accuslide lathe. Mine was a DV59, but it came with an enclosure. It was in pretty rough shape, but I got it so cheap, I didn't mind. I replaced all the motors and linear rails. I also made it a direct drive, because Accuslide left the mechanical variable speed setup in there. I also bought a way cover for some random CNC mill that just was the right size for the front of the carriage. I tried to keep it all in as small of a footprint as possible. But it's been a nice machine.

I have the Accuslide running OP2 on production parts I make for my business. OP1 is on a 1986 Okuma LB12 two axis lathe with the original control. It’s a great running old machine. OP2 is this simple threading operation. Perfect for the Accuslide. I wish I could figure out edge break chamfers in Intercon. I’ve asked several times and it is not as easy or conversational as the other operations in Intercon. I do it with a file and that’s working alright.

The timelapse is deceiving. It's a six minute cycle. The nature of the setup, stickout, tool, etc mean I take 0.015 depth of cut at 8in/min. I'll take reliable and slower over fast and problematic every single time.

Parts are looking good as well. They get tumbled, so it's not a big deal to have a small surface finish anomaly.

This is the current tool setup. It may be in this configuration for a very long time now that it's making money!

Have you considered a direct message to cnckeith for the chamfering question?

My plan is to purchase an hour of support time and sort through what I need then. Been busy. Will do when schedule allows.
