Ethernet connector to the board - question

How do you guys handle getting your ethernet cable inside your case to plugin to the board?

A few months ago, I finished up making my case a little more airtight or maybe I should say dusttight to keep dust out. Still have good airflow and ventilation, but plugged all the large holes and have some filtration on the air entry points.
I have my case all set up now so every connection can be unplugged outside the back of the case using wago connectors.
I put in a cat6 passthrough plug and a short patch cable on the inside of the case that connects it to the board. So all I have to do to connect the Acorn to my control PC is plug in the supplied ethernet cable into the plug on the back of my case.
It's been fine ever since.

This morning when I fired everything up, CNC12 wasn't connecting to the Acorn. So I gave the plug a little jiggle and it connected.

I had no problems after that with my cutting. But clearly, this is not an optimal situation.

I found a shielded panel mount short cable on amazon. Put one in my motor drive box and it is working fine. I expect the same when I put another in my Acorn box.

You could also look at Icotek and similar cable entry systems, which allow you to pass a cable with a connector on it through the wall, and still have an airtight seal. That way your ethernet cable is not interrupted.

I use a 1/2" (knockout size) PVC cable gland with a 1/2 to 1/4 split rubber bushing. The LAN connector passes thru and the bushing ensures that the gland nut is tight on the cable

I even some metal ones at Lowe's for around $2.00 each. I like them because they hold the cable tight so if I trip on it or snag the cable it is not going to pull on the Acorn board.

I'm not worried about air tight connections as I BLOW air into the cabinet with the fan and then if there are small gaps somewhere the air can push out!
