Router between Acorn and PC (Resolved)

Post by Tolesh »

Hello everyone.. I have a question, if anybody help me, i will appreciate.

It Is possible install a Router between Acorn and PC. I think is easy way to work my files in Fusion 360, generate G code, then send thru the network to the CNC12 PC folder, instead of copy the G code to any USB pendrive , then safety remove, insert to CNC12 pc then copy the file...

The router is dedicated for the Design PC and CNC12 PC, without internet connection, only for transfer G code files..

I can setup the router manyally to connect the Acorn to the PC thru the router, then share a folder to transfer files.

Best regards
Felipe

you can connect the CNCPC to a network, but don't put a router in between the CNCPC and the Acorn.
some users use a wifi signal to connect to a network or add a second LAN RJ45 card/connection to the CNCPC and hard wire the CNCPC to the LAN.

Not recommended.
Dedicated CNCPC connecting its Ethernet port directly to Acorn. Acorn has a static IP address and the PC's ethernet port must have a static IP address.
Use a secondary ethernet port or wifi for what you want to do.

My solution is to use the same PC for CNC12 and Fusion 360. The PC uses ethernet to connect to Acorn anyway, so you can locate and run it almost anywhere a network cable will reach. In my case I have the PC on a desk next to the machine. That's dead handy for creating CAD/CAM, generating g code, making design changes etc, then running the machine. The post processor is set up to save g code files to the c:\cnc12ncfiles folder, so it's then a simple matter to load them for running.

I have an all-in-one PC with WiFi for Network traffic and wired to the Acorn. I also use the file sharing service called Dropbox. It creates local folders on any PC that has it installed. I create g-code on my laptop and save it to a shared Centroid folder in dropbox. It automagically sync's to the CNC PC. Using dropbox I can create g-code anywhere and it will be on the CNC PC when I go to it.
