I talked with dmm and they think they made a mistake when calculating the z axis servo size. They think it best for me to step up to the 1.8kw motor and also put on the resistor. Hopefully they will ship it out tomorrow. If you can send me your name I will ask my tech person I'm working with to see if he can see what's going on with your servos.
Holy smokes, are there pictures of this machine? The head is not counterweighted??

Well I copied in your response from the other day with adding fans and possibly the motor undersized. They responded with what they were doing to yours but they don’t believe mine is the same issue.

The email I just received says:
We think it’s motor or encoder! but I have put every motor and drive on the Z axis and have the same issue?

Or they think it could be the coupler?

I dont see how the coupler could be causing the issue unless its severely binding. I also have a PM30 cnc converted machine that has a nema 34 hybrid stepper motor on it. The head on that machine will stay up without any motor on it.

I just don't understand how you could get overheat or overcurrent with a 750w servo and a benchtop mill....
What pitch is the ball screw?

Metric.
5mm pitch or 5.08" TPI.

I showed the video of me turning the coupler and the head free falling per say so i don't believe its binding. I tightened the gibs up just enough it wont do that now. And i tried your fan trick today with the one off my server rack and no change, Still over heat fault.

But I bet the motor isn't hot?
Triple check all your Z axis wiring and input voltages

No the motor isn’t even hot at all it happens with in 2-5 mins if that it don’t even have time to warm up?

I have 246.8 volts all the way to the drive. I honestly don’t know if there is a way to see what’s being applied to the Servo itself?

Did you tell DMM that voltage?
X and Y is behaving, but Z is not. You swap in drives and motors for X or Y and the problem remains with Z correct?

Yes i verified the voltage and told them, And i also told them i have tried every single motor and drive i have on the Z axis and it stays with the Z axis. I am going to order new bearings, coupler everything and see if there is anything that could be wrong. I have taken it apart to verify everything is in correct, the bearings are free and new already nothing feels tight or has any sounds i can tell. I actually took the Z mount loose just in case something was binding so it could go were ever it wants to and i still have faults.
