Hello,
I am getting to the point of setting up my GT series Huanyang VFD. In searching the website, I became confused with some of what I found.
Here are my questions.
1. Is the schematic provided in the latest zip file for both the GT and HY series? It is version 2 dated 191022. There is another thread with a version 4 dated 180427 that has HY in the name. On this version, there is a redline saying not to use FA, but rather use FC. I saw several instances where Marty said there was an error on the print and to not use FA but rather use FC. Yet the print in the Zip file appears to not be corrected.
2. For setting up the VFD parameters, I found 2 files. One is a released document that calls out HY series in the name. The second file is a DRAFT document that has GT series in the name. I assume I should use the GT series document, but is there a released version that I am not finding?
I'm not strong with electronics, and I am just trying to make sure I start with the latest information.
On another note, when connecting the DB25 BOB to my Leadshine drives, would it be OK to use CAT5 cable? If not, what kind of wire should I use?
Thank you for all the help.
Mike

They are not the same.fusion wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2020 5:39 pm Hello,

Its been awhile since I have set one up.
Here are my "notes" hopefully they will help, they are not finite, but should help get you going at least in the right direction along with the manual. Huan Yang has a YouTube channel with good info.

I just did a HY GT series last month.. had to use the second analog input. Would not work with AI1.

Thanks guys!
Do you have any opinions on the second question?
On another note, when connecting the DB25 BOB to my Leadshine drives, would it be OK to use CAT5 cable? If not, what kind of wire should I use?

Re: Confused with Huanyang GT series setup.
AFAIK, no as Cat5e is unshielded. Cat7 which individually shields each twisted pair could potentially be used with Cat6a also being a possibility as all pairs are shielded, just not individually. However, I prefer multicore CY control cable which is a more industrial solution
Hope this helps

Re: Confused with Huanyang GT series setup.
I use 22 gauge, 3 conductor shielded cable, one for each axis....many just use individual wires and get by ok until you start cranking the frequency up.

Re: Confused with Huanyang GT series setup.
I have wired up the VFD and followed Marty's notes on the GT model. It doesn't start the motor. I can hear the relays firing, the analog voltage seems right. I have the analog input on AI2. I tried setting jumper J16 in both position. The VFD shows the voltage when the Acorn spindle is active.
I have set the VFD parameters to Marty's notes. I'm not sure where to go. It feels like the VFD is getting the go signal, but doesn't know what to do with it.
My wiring looks like this: Thanks!

Re: Confused with Huanyang GT series setup.
I think I've got it messed up with the +24V and Com terminals. From the manual:
The Huanyang schematic from Centroid doesn't show any 24V connections. Due to being for a different model.
Would I connect the +24 from the Acorn power supply to the +24 on the VFD terminal block? And connect the center screw on the relays to the Com on the VFD terminal?
What is PW? Do I connect something to that?
This is so confusing.
Thanks!
Mike
It looks like the S1-S7 relays need +24V and Com Connections. I use the GND connection because it was next to the S1-S3 terminals. The Huanyang schematic from Centroid doesn't show any 24V connections. Due to being for a different model.

Re: Confused with Huanyang GT series setup.
That was it! I followed the drawing above. I put a jumper wire from +24 to PW, and Com on the relays to COM on the VFD terminals. It now seems to work well.

Re: Confused with Huanyang GT series setup.
Strange. Maybe they made a design change.
Could you update this file with what works for you and repost it?
Same with the Huan Yang schematic. Just modify the HY version and post it. Maybe we can get Centroid to update the schematic and incorporate the notes for the GT
Thanks Mike!
