Clearpath Choice, which type

Hi,

I have a small lathe that I want to convert as a 'test project' and I would like to go with the acorn board and clearpath motors, however I am confused by the number of choices re clearpath servos, how do you choose the correct motor, what guidlines to follow or should I be using 'that one'? I have four CPM-SDSK-2310S-ELN (NEMA 23) and one CPM-SDSK-3411S-ELN (NEMA 34). I would also talk to their tech support.

The model depends on a lot of things, torque, max speed, shaft size, NEMA size, encoder resolution etc. I followed what they recommended for my lathe ((Techno Lathe 9x20").

Define "small lathe"
Pictures? Make/model?
Is it CNC now or are you converting it?

I use RLN models instead of ELN. With 1605 ballscrews, 800 counts per revolution gives 0.00025 inch movement per count. On the Taig lathe, that gives 0.000125 inch movement per step. The ELN has 6400 counts per revolution, which, with my ball screws gives resolution that the machine cannot obtain.
