Hello, I am a new member of the Centroid Acorn community. I have ordered the Acorn board and Lathe Pro. I have a mill and lathe and want to convert the lathe first.
This is a year in the making already. I have purchased the ESS/MB3 boards from CNCRoom and Clearpath Servos with the intent of using Mach4 for the mill. Then, I discovered Centroid Acorn and my plans were put on hold while I investigated this product.
It sounded to good to be true but there were to many people involved to be a conspiracy to get my $438. Now I believe it is that good.
I have a couple od questions. Why are most of the Youtube videos 2 or more years old? And why isn't Newfanged Solutions bankrupt?

You came to the right place! Centroid has been doing CNC Machine motion control for over 30 years. You are getting the hardware AND software from the same company. We are here to help in anyway we can. There are users on this forum using Clearpath with Acorn.
Take a look at CNC4PC's Acorn/Clearpath solution, it may simplify things:

Re: New member introduction
The introduction videos were made when acorn was first introduced, the concepts and information are the same, since then we have created many many videos covering more advanced topics they can be found here in the cnc videos forum.

Gee, I hope that was meant to be tongue in cheek. It's in bad taste to wish a fellow DIY CNC company ill will. Those guys have helped a huge crowd of hobbyists (and pros) down the road to productive CNC work! As a matter of fact, I'm making some parts for a friend's company right now using a 1995 Denford MicroMill converted to Mach 3. I have a CNC bridge mill project going on with an Acorn but can't work on it because ALL my spare time is spent making piles of chips & a small pile of money with the little toy mill!

Re: New member introduction
Yes it was. I should have said "if Acorn is that good, how can the competition survive".
