Software crash at startup < documented..old pc CPU Architecture >

Post by Slashthehvy1 »

I just bought a new acorn and with a fresh install of windows 10 on 2 different PC's. Both crash when it tries to connect to the board. Firewall and defender have been disabled on both PC's. Any help would be appreciated.

No go. I tried everything there. I should add I don't get an error, it just disappears. Can't even get to the wizard

Is it an older pc and does it meet the minimum specs for the software? This was the issue in that topic. Older pc’s were crashing with 4.20 just like you are experiencing. There is a beta version 4.20.1 that is being tested for older pc’s and it fixed mine from doing what yours is doing.

I don’t think there is a public release yet, you have to contact cnckeith for a copy. Several people, myself included, are testing it right now.

Tried it all to still no avail. I'm gonna try it again on a 3rd PC that is less than a year old. It won't be used to run the mill but at least I will know if the two I'm using might be too old. One is a quad-core the other is a dual. The one I will try is an eight core gaming rig lol.

Installed immediately on the home PC. Guess I'm just gonna spend some money on a new PC. Also windows firewall and defender were both running on the new PC and it still installed and ran perfectly.

The minimum pc requirements are listed on the Acorn software page. You should check your pc’s against those requirements to be sure, it would have saved you some time. There were some changes in 4.20 that affected some older pc’s.
