Acorn Pro Lathe-

Post by JerryLouisMartin »

I Cannot get my Acorn CNC Lathe to Recognize the fact that I'm turning from the front and not from the rear.

I have the configuration set to Horizontal Lathe and front on the configuration settings.

In the Intercon Graph it shows it coming from the rear. Should be Front.

Should be going from the front and moving left to right.

I know I have a setting off somewhere?

Checked the parameters and it is set to the front.

Any ideas?

Do you have the tool library set to say 'orientation' from the top and not bottom?

Before you pressed F8/Graph, where was the current tool? I.e., what position was showing on the DRO?

Note that the tool is shown starting the approach move from somewhere near X-4.0". That suggests that that is where you are, at least according to your part zero and tool offset settings.

I did I reply earlier and it has not sown up yet.

I am assuming your spindle is to the left.

When homing is the tool post coming towards you and Z going to the right away from the spindle? Looking at the report you are homing X and Z in the negative direction. For Front post you should be homing towards you. Looking at the homing program you are homing X and Z in the negative direction.

In the Wizard under Axis - Homing and Travel for the Automatic Homing Direction Axis 1 and 2 should be +(M92). With homing Z in the negative direction you could have problems with the tool running into the chuck or part. You are homing to negative switches for both.

Spindle is on the Left.

Homing it comes out and goes to the homing site by the headstock

I tried your suggestion and changed the automatic homing direction Axis 1 and 2.

The tool post then goes to the rear and stops, I put it back the way it was.

Follow any of the workable procedures for setting your X axis part zero location and setting your tools' X offsets.

Then try F8/Graph again.

For some explanation and example procedures, see http://www.cncsnw.com/OLEL.htm

Looking at your report you have direction reversal on for X. With the G92 homing X should comes towards. Currently when you press the X+ jog key does the tool post comes towards you?

Dana...
I got on the phone with Jerry this morning and got his axes moving and homing in the proper direction. Hopefully he will chime in after he tests it a bit.

Gary,

Thank you for the direct support. I thought it was because directions was not set up corretly. At times it is easier and quicker to talked directly then through e-mails.

I have changed the configuration and homing on the lathe.

It now homes to the right and all setting are functioning per your guidance and direction.

I still cannot get the intercon to do run time graphics even though it is turned on.

Tested the intercon to do a straight turn from diameter stock of 1.25 to .75.

Will only run to line 23 and it sits right there. No run time like in the videos!

Haven't figured out the why yet!

I apologize for not posting a response sooner as I'm a disabled Vet and

I Have really bad days where I do not do much! Again, I'm sorry!
