I have just began to start running my converted manual mill using the Acorn board, and I’m trying to understand why my X axis won’t home to the switch. I am able to manually home the machine and have been able to run a few parts, but when I try to let the machine home to the switches, the X axis never moves, but the axis still zeros out as if it found the home switch no matter where it happens to be at and there aren’t any errors reported. Y and Z behave as expected without any issues. My home switches are inductive proxes and I am fairly certain there aren’t any issues with them.
It feels to me like it is a software/configuration issue, but I am not finding anything wrong in the wizard. All of the home switch inputs are configured correctly and I have verified them in the IO screen with the alt-i command.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Brian

Re: Reasons why X axis won’t home to switch?
Please install cnc12 v4.20. free support for v4.18 has ended.
Looking at the inputs assigned.. i would use HomeAll as seen in the Centroid Acorn schematics.
i would un assigned any probe related inputs, until you get homing sorted.
What kind of switches are being used? NO/NC?

Re: Reasons why X axis won’t home to switch?
Brian, as Keith indicated, upgrade to Version 4.20Cohbra11 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2019 2:56 pm I have just began to start running my converted manual mill using the Acorn board, and I’m trying to understand why my X axis won’t home to the switch. Also provide screen shots of your Wizard screens. Easier for us to "see" what you see.
Also provide pictures of the limit switches in place.

Re: Reasons why X axis won’t home to switch?
I upgraded to 4.20 and tried to home again, but there was no change in the homing. I then noticed that I was in fact getting a message saying +Y limit tripped, then cleared, then tripped again when homing the Y axis which was preventing the X axis from ever trying to home (although, I know this hasn't always been the case). Just for the heck of it, I changed the Y axis home switch to be N/O (even though it is a N/C) and then tried to home again. Obviously, it didn't home correctly, but after changing it back to N/C, everything started working, and has worked on every attempt since then. I can't explain why as this is literally the only thing I have changed, but I am glad it is working now.
Thanks for the quick responses everyone!
