Re: EMCO Turn 55 Time based tool changer
M18 is working if i copy the files from the time base folder with a fresh install cnc12. This time I configure the motors and spindle, then copy the files from time based folder and there the M18 is not working.
Ill create a video for this. Thanks

Are you following the latest instructions for 4.5?
viewtopic.php?f=63&t=1340
Should be NO need for modifying the PLC

Re: EMCO Turn 55 Time based tool changer
so all this time I have been using wrong version of the files. I believe Iam done with my benct testing and will now proceed mounting the components to the machine.

Re: EMCO Turn 55 Time based tool changer
do you have any recommendation for a spindle encoder?

Re: EMCO Turn 55 Time based tool changer
Nice work, glad you got squared away on the version number and tool changer.
Looks like you have an encoder, what make/model and counts per revolution is it?
You can see it out count in PID screen
F1 Setup
F3 Config
F4 PID
The general consensus for an encoder is a 1000 line differential/line driver +5VDC encoder
You put 4000 in the Wizard spindle setup screen.
Thanks for the video! (Turn your camera landscape so we can see the BIG picture next time!

Re: EMCO Turn 55 Time based tool changer
yup I'll do that landscape cam
my encoder is at 1024, I'll set it up.
Got some communication after hooking all the wires up. Found two devices that causes it.
1. Old power supply (black one) that came withe machine, just turning the power circuit on already got communication error. If I remove the old power supply it is working fine. Think Ill just replace with switching power supply.
2. The Lenze VFD that also came with the machine, when I turn the spindle on, it is giving me communication error. Seldomely I encountered it with my emco mill 55 cnc with acorn also. I will double check the grounding of the components, and if ever do I need to install EMI filters for the VFD and like ferrite bead for the ethernet cable?

You got some communication errors you say?
You can look at your logs by going F7 Utilities, F9 Logs, F1 Error

Re: EMCO Turn 55 Time based tool changer
apprently my laptop is lagging that causes the ethernet communication error. I least suspected the computer as the source of the problem coz I have been using it before with the cnc mill I retrofitted, but going thru different possible solutions provided from tech bulletin 270 the error still occurs until I changed my laptop .
Here is a video of my trial cut though it is in my native language.
Thanks Marty! This acorn board is the most fitted to our machines. Got many more emco 55 lathe and turn to be retrofitted.

Re: EMCO Turn 55 Time based tool changer
I simply will not use a laptop nor recommend them because of the issues you experienced.
Small form factor PC's are my computer of choice. I generally will mount them with a VESA bracket to the back of the monitor.
Continued luck on your conversions.
