Manual for CNC12 ver 4.14 list of effected pages

Post by Beechdrvr »

Hi Everyone
This question is directed to Centroid. Is there a list of effective changes to the ops manual that I can access so I don’t have to print the whole thing out again. Anything out there that says on page blah blah, we are changing it to a new method or verbiage.
I’m in aviation, and to reduce paper, companies publish List of Effective Pages with the updates spelled out with what it used to say and what it’s suppose to say now on that page.
Just curious.
Thanks.

Another thing I'd like to see that other manuals have is a version number, release date and/or revision number on the cover page. This way at a quick glance you know if you have the latest version. Centroid is always after us to use the latest version of everything, how can we be sure? The manual that came with my software that was installed with the software does not list this info. If you download it separately it does have a version number but no release date or revision number. A bit confusing.

A revision page is also good to have if you actually print it but I didn't think people actually printed manuals anymore. :o

  1. Within Acrobat, choose Tools (older versions Edit) > Compare Files.
  2. Click Select File at left to choose the older file version you want to compare.
  3. Click Select File at right to choose the newer file version you want to compare.
  4. Click Compare.
  5. Review the Compare Results summary.
Aviation companies also charge exorbitant prices to cover all those little niceties. The Acorn is priced for the DIY community. Some things you have to DIY ;)
Cheers,

Tom

Thanks Tom and I understand how aviation companies format their manuals, I'm a pilot and aircraft owner myself, but all the aviation companies do list the version, release date, revision number if any and list in a table all the revised pages in all their manuals. I understand Centroid is not an aviation company, I was just asking for some uniformity across all their manuals, that's all. :D

thanks for the suggestion.
i'll make sure there is a date on the manuals.. typically the operator manual is updated at every software release of CNC12 for Oak/Allin1DC ...
and the release notes for those releases would reflect the areas of the manual that have been updated or added.

Thanks Keith and the others that chimed in.
Anything helps. Dates, pages, short explanations of changes.
I get it, nobody prints it out. I printed one just to have and that’s good enough I guess.
It’s such a great product that I’d hate to see the support side, manuals and so on, fall by the wayside.
Everyone here is very helpful for locating things so that’s a big plus.
Thanks again,
Doug

Thanks again for all the updates Keith. There's nothing better than a well documented product and I think Centroid does a great job with this. I love the DWG diagrams you provide, I can then modify those to mimic my machine and wiring for troubleshooting. Although since I converted to the Acorn I have not done any troubleshooting, it just works.
