Is it possible to pause a job and then resume on the Acorn? (Resolved)

Post by wwolski »

Hi,

I would like to know if it is possible to pause a running job and then resume where I left off at a later time.

If so what are proven steps to achieve this?

Thanks

I just hit the pause key. Then cycle start to resume
.

Ok, On the panel I see nothing labelled pause, and that's why I sent the original question.

On the attached picture please identify the "Pause Key"
Do I have to program one of the aux buttons for this perpose? Is it "Feed Hold" ?

Thanks

Its 'Feed Hold', i think as a shortcut you can use the spacebar on keyboard as well.
To resume program press start.

There are 3 buttons to achieve this.

Both Feed hold and Toolcheck will immediately pause the Job, the latter returning your Z axis to the tool change position (usually home). Restart Job using Cycle Start.

You can also resume after Power off / hitting Cancel - See Mill manual sections 6.3 and 6.4
Hope this helps

space bar on keyboard is also the same as "Feed Hold", and if you have the Wireless MPG https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... ndant.html
there is a Feed Hold button there as well!

also related... restart at a line number... "Run" , "Search" type in Line or Tool number to restart at, is a useful feature as well.

Suppose.....in the middle of an ongoing circular or linear interpolation, one hits tool check and jogs the X-Y axis manually to inspect &/or service tool tip. In such a situation can the program be resumed "exactly from the intermediate point" where tool check event happened - instead of starting from the beginning of the subject linear - circular interpolation block?
Is it fair or safe enough to have such an expectation on resumption? If this is possible, I have not been able to locate the exact details. Have looked at the recovery guidance for tool check, cycle cancel and escape key already for this.

Feedhold pauses a program and hitting cycle start afterwards will resume operation where you left off even if mid cycle. However if you press feed hold and then move the machine or execute other commands, then the program is terminated, but the number of the last line executed is retained. If you the resume the program, execution starts at the beginning of the previously saved line number.
Cheers,

Tom
